The Journal of Mathematical Chemistry, Springer, is an international journal devoted to the interdisciplinary and rapidly growing field, as indicated by the name of the Journal, of Mathematical Chemistry. In the past half century, chemistry has become an exceptionally broad and rich, but mathematically already well-treatable field, where the level of complexity is usually way beyond the complexity level of typical physics problems, well described by mathematical physics. Yet, with the spectacular advances in the physical foundations, with the accumulated knowledge and information providing detailed descriptions of hundreds of thousands, even millions of various molecules, and with advances in the more fundamental, and also the applied mathematical methodologies combined with computer technologies and programming advances, mathematical chemistry has become a mature field, and this journal has its well-defined role within the family of scientific journals, well supported by the standards and reputation of its publisher, Springer.
